Yunex Traffic early careers team delivers high-impact virtual work experience programme

Poole, UK: 11 June 2026: A student-led initiative is helping to inspire the next generation while delivering measurable social value.

Yunex Traffic UK has successfully delivered a high-impact virtual work experience programme in partnership with Springpod, reaching thousands of students across the UK and providing valuable insight into careers in transport, mobility and technology.

The programme was developed as part of a Business Impact Project (BIP), led by a cross-functional team of interns, graduates, and apprentices. Working in small groups over an eight-month period, early careers colleagues are tasked with identifying opportunities to improve the business, exploring new ways of working and developing fully researched proposals for senior leadership.

This approach not only strengthens collaboration and innovation across early careers talent, but also ensures that projects are grounded in real business value. The Springpod programme is a strong example of the impact this model can deliver.

Reaching and inspiring future talent

Since launch, the virtual programme has attracted 2,500+ students, offering an accessible and engaging introduction to the traffic and mobility sector.

Participants spent an average of over three hours engaging with the content, with the programme receiving an overall rating of 7.4/10. Importantly, the initiative has delivered £1 million+ in social value, reflecting its broader contribution beyond the immediate learning outcomes.

Students from across the UK took part, including strong engagement from further education colleges and schools in key regions. For many participants, the programme provided their first insight into an industry they had not previously considered.

Building skills, confidence and career awareness

The programme is generating social value by delivering accessible career development opportunities, improving participants’ skills and confidence, and positively influencing their long-term employability and economic prospects.

Feedback from participants highlights a clear shift in understanding and aspiration. Many reported increased awareness of career opportunities in the sector, alongside improved confidence in their ability to pursue future roles and engage with industry professionals.

Students particularly valued the opportunity to explore real-world challenges, gain insight into intelligent transport systems, and understand how innovation and data are shaping safer, more sustainable cities.

I learned a lot about the traffic industry and how there are many role in it. I think it’s fascinating how IT plays such a large part in creating traffic solutions. I also like how traffic systems can be used to help people and the environment.

A platform for early careers innovation

For the interns, graduates, and apprentices involved, the programme has also provided valuable experience in project delivery, research, and stakeholder engagement.

The Business Impact Project framework enables early careers colleagues to work collaboratively, test new ideas and present their findings directly to senior leaders – helping to build both confidence and capability while contributing to business strategy.

The success of the Springpod programme demonstrates how empowering early careers talent can deliver meaningful outcomes, both for the organisation and for the wider community.

Looking ahead

Insights from participant feedback will be used to further enhance the programme, including opportunities to introduce more interactive content, shorter video formats and deeper exploration of career pathways within Yunex Traffic.

By continuing to invest in early careers initiatives and accessible learning opportunities, Yunex Traffic remains committed to supporting the next generation and helping to build the skills needed for the future of transport and mobility.
