Yunex Traffic’s HR, People and Legal Teams volunteer on International HR Day!

May 2026

Our HR, People & Legal teams recently came together for a volunteering day at Upton Country Park, coinciding with International HR Day.

Stepping away from their usual routines, the team spent the day supporting the BCP Conservation Team with essential maintenance work, clearing nettles and brambles to help maintain the park’s natural environment. The day provided a valuable opportunity to contribute to the local community, with a focus on teamwork, collaboration, and practical impact.

The team’s collective effort made a true difference to the space, demonstrating a strong commitment beyond their day-to-day roles. Thankyou to all the colleagues who took part in this initiative and for making a meaningful impact with their local area.

Yunex Traffic Launches School Adoption Project with Hyndburn Academy

April 2026

Yunex Traffic has officially launched its School Adoption Project in partnership with Hyndburn Academy, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to education, community engagement, and the development of future talent. The initiative aims to inspire young people by introducing them to careers in engineering, technology and intelligent transport solutions.

To mark the launch, Year 9 students from Hyndburn Academy received ainteractive and engaging introduction to our company, the work we do and smart mobility and transport innovation we develop. The visit encouraged students to explore engineering and technology, helping them to see how classroom learning connects to future career opportunities.

One of the highlights of the day was the popular Yunex Lowton Depot Quiz, which sparked curiosity and discussion while challenging students to think creatively about engineering and problem‑solving. This was followed by a practical engineering workshop where students built a basic Micro:bit circuit board. The hands‑on activity provided valuable insight into digital technology and demonstrated how engineering concepts are applied in practice.

Yunex Traffic would like to thank colleagues for coordinating the visit and helping to bring the School Adoption Project launch to fruition.

Our London Team attend two key apprenticeship fairs

March 2026

The London team recently represented Yunex Traffic at two key apprentice fairs in the capital, promoting our apprenticeship pathways and engaging with potential future talent.

The team first attended the TfL Apprentice Fair, where strong engagement with attendees led to excellent feedback from Transport for London on both the presentation and overall interaction. The success of this event also resulted in an invitation to attend an NHS apprentice fair.

Following this, the team took part in the NHS Apprentice Fair at Lewisham College, where the Yunex Traffic stand again received very positive feedback throughout the day. Visitors were particularly impressed with the professionalism of the team and the clear, informative overview of the opportunities available through our apprenticeship scheme.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for representing Yunex Traffic so positively and for supporting both future and current talent at these events.

Supporting Future Careers at De La Salle High School

March 2026

Recently, colleagues attended De La Salle High School in St Helens to take part in the school’s Mock Interview event. Over the course of the session, they met with students in 20‑minute interview slots, offering personalised feedback on CVs and interview techniques.

The event brought together a diverse group of young people with ambitious career aspirations. Among those interviewed were budding fighter pilots, carers, electrical engineers and even a future accountant!

Thankyou to those who went for taking your time to provide an opportunity for students to build confidence, refine their professional skills, and prepare for the next steps in their career journeys.

Students attend the Poole site for Work Experience

November 2025

Yunex Traffic had the pleasure of welcoming two enthusiastic work experience students into our Research & Development team in November. Both students had the opportunity to explore the exciting world of traffic technology and gain practical skills that could shape their future careers.

Rufus was the first to join us, eager to learn about our traffic solutions and how we develop traffic lights. During his time in R&D, Rufus got hands-on experience in our lab, wiring cabling and coding PCBs, as well as learning about the processes behind our innovative products.

Following Rufus, Sebastian spent his half-term week with us to explore Yunex Traffic and discover potential career paths. Sebastian worked closely with our finance intern, Ali ,to understand the scope of finance within the business. He also joined the R&D team, where he designed models for 3D printing and learned about the technology that powers our solutions.

This experience was not only valuable for Rufus and Sebastian, but also rewarding for our staff, who enjoyed sharing their knowledge and expertise with the next generation of talent. A big thank you to everyone who helped organise and support this fantastic opportunity!

Green Careers Week at Cornerstone Academy

November 2025:

In November, colleagues had the privilege of visiting Cornerstone Academy in Hamworthy to speak with Year 10 students as part of their Green Careers Week.

During the session, colleagues introduced students to what Yunex Traffic do as a company, shared their career journeys so far, and discussed the types of skills that will be valuable in the green sector.

They also explored how these roles contribute to a sustainable future and highlighted examples of exciting opportunities they could pursue, including:

• The benefits of a green career are clear:
• Make a positive impact on the environment
• Be part of an innovative and growing sector
• Build skills that will shape the future

Bournemouth University Early Careers Fair

October 2025:

During October, we attended the annual careers fair at Bournemouth University where we meet students in all years. It was interesting to discuss their career aspirations, and potential futures at Yunex Traffic. We even received a visit from some of former Interns that are continuing their studies!

Bournemouth CTP Event

September 2025:

In September, Yunex Traffic attended the Careers Transition Partnership employment event in Bournemouth, in partnership with the Ministry of Defence. This marks our third CTP event this year, as part of our ongoing work with the Armed Forces Community.

Our attendees reported that it was a great event, particularly due to the fact that they got to showcase the opportunities and future careers we at Yunex Traffic are able to offer.

Thank you to Rob, Steve, Lynsey and Leah for attending and representing Yunex Traffic so well! We are looking forward to attending more events with CTP in 2026 and beyond.

Yunex Traffic’s World Bike Day challenge

August 2025:

This year at Yunex Traffic we held our annual World Bike Day challenge which is a friendly competition that gives Yunex Traffic the chance to get out and about on their bikes! The competition happens between the June -August each year, with the final leaderboard and winners announced in September.

We are thrilled to share the final leaderboard –a huge well done to Andreas and Mark for securing the top two spots, and to Stuart for achieving the highest elevation (and 3rd highest distance).

Yunex Traffic teamed up with Bristol Works to deliver mock interview sessions to children with SEN

July 2025:

Yunex Traffic’s Bristol team rallied together during July to give students the opportunity to have mock interviews so they can be best prepared for their future. These important sessions were given to 100s of children across the schools of Knowle DGE, Blaise High School, St Matthias in Bath, and St Mattias in Bristol.

These sessions were particularly integral as they were held for students with behavioural problems and students with learning disabilities, groups that often do not received equal opportunities to their peers.

Both students and Bristol Works, who ran the sessions, gave positive feedback to our Yunex Traffic attendees. Our Yunex Traffic volunteers also found the experience incredibly rewarding and we would like to thank our Yunex Traffic volunteers for representing us with the upmost professionalism and enthusiasm while conducting these sessions.

Yunex Traffic School Engagements: Spring–Summer 2025

May 2025:

Yunex Traffic recently visited several schools to promote road safety, STEM education, and sustainability:

• Grappenhall Heys Primary School, Warrington: Over 120 pupils participated in a quiz about local traffic lights, road safety demonstrations, and an introduction to careers in intelligent transport.
• Egglescliffe School, Tees Valley: Year 8 students received consultancy support for their project on introducing hydrogen trains to improve regional sustainability.
• Local Primary School, Cumbernauld: Health Week activities included physical exercises and traffic-signal-themed games to promote fitness and learning.
• Crownfield Junior School, Romford: During Career Aspirations Week, Year 3 and 4 pupils explored the technology behind traffic signals and smart cities, sparking interest in STEM subjects.

These visits highlight Yunex Traffic’s commitment to educating and inspiring the next generation of transport professionals.

Career Aspirations week

March 2025:

Yunex Traffic had the privilege of introducing Year 3 and 4 students (ages 8-9) to the fascinating world of traffic signals and intelligent mobility at the Crownfield Junior School in Romford

Through interactive sessions, students explored:

• The vital role of traffic signals in keeping roads safe.
• The technology behind smarter cities.
• How engineering and innovation shape the future of transport.

The enthusiasm and curiosity from the students were truly inspiring, and it was fantastic to see their engagement in learning about the future of mobility.

A special thank you to Crownfield Junior School for the opportunity and to our colleagues for their invaluable support in making this initiative a success.

Bristol Works Team engages with Schools

February 2025:

The Bristol Works Team have recently attended three schools:

• Ashton Park Careers Day
• St Matthias School Careers Carousel
• King Weston School

We engaged with special needs students who absolutely loved reprogramming the signal head, colouring pictures, and participating in the other activities we arranged.

This visit was a highlight and a delight, with the children, carers, and Leanne from the Works team all being brilliant. Their enthusiasm and engagement made the experience truly rewarding

Reverse Advent Calendar

December 2024:

This Christmas, Yunex Traffic teams across the UK came together for the Reverse Advent Calendar initiative, donating food and essentials to local food banks and charities. From Bournemouth to West Lothian, our depots and offices supported those in need, delivering vital supplies to organisations like Hope for Food, Bristol Northwest Food Bank, Leicester South Food Bank, Worcester Foodbank, West Lothian Foodbank HQ, and Normanton Food Bank.

Together, we contributed hundreds of meals, essential items, and much-needed support to vulnerable individuals and families, spreading kindness and hope during the festive season. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated—you’ve made a real difference.

Road Safety Week: BRAKE

November 2024:

For the second year running, Yunex Traffic worked closely with its supply chain partners to get primary school children thinking about safety.  Through a design competition, the company aims to highlight the importance of road safety and raise awareness of BRAKE’s national road safety campaign. 

The team at Yunex Traffic developed the competition for children attending primary schools which are close to its 14 regional depots, with the pupils encouraged to design a sticker to promote this year’s Road Safety Week.  Teams at each Yunex Traffic depot have now judged all the entries (which this year totalled over 300), and the winning designs have been made into stickers.  Printed by Stewart Signs, the stickers will be displayed on the side of each depot’s vans. 

National Manufacturing Day

September 2024:

We had a late visit from our local Cub pack where 21 youngsters aged between 8 & 11 were able to see what we do and experience STEM in action.  

Highlights of the visit included a guided tour of our award-winning factory where they were able to talk to staff about the products they produce, look at the tools that they use and ask questions.  

We also hosted a hands-on microbit activity enabling them to use coding on a set of traffic lights demonstrating real-world applications of STEM principles. sparking curiosity and passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. 

This event was hosted by our Apprentices, Interns and Graduates who were able to talk about how they enjoyed using STEM in their everyday working lives. 

Through our “See it to Be it” philosophy, we are hoping to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers. Together, we’re building a brighter future for manufacturing and empowering the leaders of tomorrow. 

London Transport Museum

July 2024:

This July Yunex Traffic exhibited at the Acton depot of the London Transport Museum. The volunteers showed off our new AI traffic light. Our stand was in the STEM zone to educate young children about the sequence of a traffic light using pose detection and also about our virtual work experience. Our technology allowed small children to control traffic flow using gestures the AI recognised.  

We had a lot of visitors, and everybody was interested to know more about Yunex Traffic and the products we make. The London Transport Museum open day event at the Acton depot had approximately 5,000 visitors, many of whom visited our AI Traffic Light activity.

Plastic Free July

July 2024:

Plastic pollution affects ecosystems worldwide, from the highest mountains to the deepest oceans. It endangers wildlife, damages habitats, and poses significant risks to human health. 

In our commitment to reducing waste at Yunex Traffic, we celebrated Plastic Free July®, a global movement that encouraged millions to be part of the solution to plastic pollution. ♻️ 

With enthusiastic volunteers, we successfully collected six full 50L bags of litter in under an hour, right outside our Poole site. 

Consider organising your own local litter picks or other initiatives to help keep our communities and environment clean – there’s often more litter than meets the eye.

Engaging with the Next Generation: CSR Initiatives in the North East

July 2024:

Over the past few weeks, our North East team has been busy with CSR initiatives that support local communities of Barnsley, Hull, and East Riding of Yorkshire.

Adam Griffiths, our Regional Sales Manager, led current and former ITS apprentices—Adam, Stewart, and Jacob—at a Year 7 & 8 event at Holderness Academy to promote apprenticeship opportunities, which received fantastic feedback.

Charlie, Jacob, Rachel, and Will also launched the Yunex Traffic Virtual Placement Scheme at Archbishop Sentamu School in Hull for Year 10 students who couldn’t secure work placements. The students were highly engaged, with the “Wotsits” team winning our traffic signal quiz.

Additionally, Dawn, Jacob, and Will participated in a Year 10 Career Speed Networking event at Penistone Grammar School in Barnsley, sharing our career experiences and insights into the ITS sector.

Thanks to Jan Fadden and the schools for their support in organising these events, and a special shout-out to our apprentice, Jacob Hargreaves, who excelled at every event and is now gaining hands-on experience out on-site.

These efforts highlight our commitment to giving back and inspiring future talent in the ITS sector.

Collaborative Community Effort: Enhancing Gardens at The Potteries Dementia Care Home

May 2024:

We’ve had a great couple of days working with our partners, CBRE.

We carried out a joint volunteering activity with CBRE and Reconomy (Waste Management Company). Together with volunteers from #TeamYunexTraffic we spent the morning clearing some land in The Potteries – a Dementia Care Home close to our Poole site – to enable the residents to plant some herbs and flowers and enjoy the garden. The residents and staff were so grateful for the time the team spent working with them and it was a great opportunity to connect with our partners.

Nurturing Nature: Bristol Team’s Commitment to Social Values and Environmental Impact

May 2024:

Despite a wet start, today’s social values session turned out to be another successful and fulfilling experience with the Bristol #Onetreeperchild team. Over the course of four productive hours, our dedicated Bristol team made significant strides in supporting this important initiative.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone from the Bristol team who has participated in one of the twenty sessions held over the past few months. Your ongoing commitment has been instrumental in advancing our social values mission.

What began as a dull and rainy morning quickly transformed into a beautiful sunny day, reflecting the positive energy and determination of our team. Together, we managed to maintain over 200 trees today—a truly fantastic effort that demonstrates our shared dedication to environmental sustainability and community engagement.

We look forward to continuing this impactful work and making a lasting difference in the communities we serve.

A Day of Volunteering at St Peter’s Primary School, Barnsley

March 2024:

Rachel, Will and members of our Normanton team joined Daniel from Barnsley Council, at St Peter’s Primary School in Barnsley. After registering for volunteering opportunities with Barnsley Council’s Neighbourhood Services the school’s Business Manager reached our for help to tidy up the school grounds. We spent a full day sweeping, painting walls, fences and planters and jet washing the infant playground, outside pay area and bicycle shed.

We were given a very warm welcome by all staff and children with our hard work being rewarded at lunch time on Fish & Chip Friday! It was a rewarding day being able to see the difference we had made to the children’s environment and we were delighted to be given thank you cards made by the children and presented at the end of the day in the school assembly. 💚

Road Safety Week at Yunex Traffic

19 – 25 November 2023:

Last week, as part of Road Safety Week 2023 in association with BRAKE, we hosted some fun activities to spread awareness and get people talking about this year’s focus – speed! We hosted our Bake for BRAKE event, with lots of #TeamYunexTraffic in attendance to enjoy some of the delicious cakes. We also held a Road Safety Week “Lunch & Learn” session to spread the message across all our employees.

Our Road Safety Week Sticker Competition has also now come to a close, with the winners being announced. It was a really tough competition to judge with a whopping 286 entries submitted from primary school children across the country. Congratulations to our winners who will have their stickers displayed on our fleet vehicles.
