Yunex Traffic commissions fully integrated signalling, control and detection solution for new A702 junction
- Yunex Traffic has installed its innovative Plus+ traffic control solution for a new junction on the A702 in Biggar, part of Scotland’s South East Trunk Road Network.
- The scheme also includes Yunex Traffic’s latest energy-efficient traffic signals, four AI-enabled video detection cameras, as well as multi-lane radar units to support MOVA control.
- Replacing inductive loops with advanced detection systems will provide new traffic insights and will save over 200 metres of ducting and cabling, delivering significant cost, carbon, and programme savings.
Poole, UK, 29 June 2026. As part of the installation of a major new junction on the A702 High Street in Biggar, Yunex Traffic has delivered an intelligent, fully integrated traffic detection, control, and signalling solution. The deployment of the company’s advanced Plus+, Yutraffic Actis, Yutraffic awareAI and MLR technologies is now providing a cost-effective, more sustainable and high-performance system for all road users on this section of Scotland’s South East Trunk Road Network.
By replacing conventional kerbside, on-crossing and stop-line loops with advanced Yutraffic awareAI and MLR detection technology, the project avoided the need for more than 200 metres of ducting and cabling. This significantly shortened the installation programme, reduced civil engineering and cable requirements, and minimised disruption to road users during installation.
The new nine-pole signalised junction now benefits from four AI-enabled video detection cameras which provide optimum coverage and detection of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists across all approaches. Similarly the use of MLR for MOVA optimises junction performance under varying traffic conditions, providing a cost-effective and more sustainable solution for the route’s operational needs.
We are proud to have worked with Bear Scotland to deliver this seamlessly integrated, state-of-the-art solution. Less disruptive and more sustainable, cost-effective and data-rich, our technology provides all the detection capabilities of traditional methods, but with the added benefit of real-time data provision to support enhanced traffic management and control.

The completed scheme demonstrates how intelligent, integrated traffic technology can deliver measurable benefits for road users, operators, and the environment, supporting safer and more efficient journeys across Scotland’s strategic road network.
